THERE I LAY
BY MARIA JESSICA

There I lay,
Tears dried up,
And heart so weary
Of its own beatings.

Amidst desperation, adversity,
And onerous circumstances,
I reached the edge of limits,
There I lay.

Isolated in this solitary confinement
Of my own distress,
I saw no way out,
There I lay.

Tears streamed to no end,
My mind couldn’t bear the,
Seemingly, steady company of anxiety.
There I lay.

Turned to those I hold dear,
To find nothing offered.
I clenched as hard as I could to my faith.

There I lay,
Fading,
Losing myself.
